INTERNATIONAL INDIGENOUS TOURISM CONFERENCE (IITC)

The International Indigenous Tourism Conference, hosted annually by Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, is the largest global gathering of Indigenous tourism leaders rotating through a new Canadian host city each year.

The three-day gathering brings together over 1,000 delegates from across Canada and around the world for a Welcome Reception called 'Taste of Turtle Island', two days of conference sessions, a marketplace, and a gala awards night that celebrates Indigenous excellence with awards, performances, and storytelling.

From immersive cultural tours and culinary storytelling to a dynamic program of speakers and performances, every element of IITC is designed to foster connection, reconciliation, and economic growth through tourism. Cultural authenticity, innovation, and sustainability are seamlessly woven into every moment, making IITC not only a conference, but a cultural movement.

  • The "e" Way

Working in close partnership with ITAC and local Indigenous artists, we develop a distinct conference identity annually, integrating local culture into every touchpoint through storytelling, performance, design, and music.

The result is a conference that is not only informative, but deeply grounded in community, culture, and shared progress.

  • What the Client Said

“As the Director of Partnerships of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), I have had the opportunity to partner with e=mc² events over several years, most notably at our annual National Indigenous Tourism Conference. This is a flagship event for our organization, bringing together delegates, leaders, and partners from across the country and beyond. Each year, e=mc² delivers with professionalism, creativity, and care, helping us tell our stories, showcase our communities, and create spaces that reflect the depth and diversity of Indigenous culture.

What stands out most about working with e=mc² is their approach. They engage with our team and our partners with respect, humility, and a genuine desire to learn. They don’t come with assumptions, but with curiosity and openness. This way of working ensures that Indigenous voices are not only included, but honoured, and that our culture is represented with integrity.”

Held in Ottawa on the unceded Algonquin Anishinaabeg Territory, with the powerful theme “Where Nations Meet,” the conference honoured Ottawa’s historical role as a meeting place for Indigenous Peoples. The logo honoured the Inuit People with the warm inclusion of katimavik (Inuit syllabics for meeting place), extending a heartfelt “welcome.” The elegant chevron patterns gracefully honoured the Métis sash, underscoring the importance of their culture. Finally, the convergence of arrows, deeply rooted in traditional birch bark biting art, aptly captured the essence of the theme, celebrating the harmonious coming together of diverse cultures in a single, unifying vision.
