  • The Experience

Each winter Christmas at Canada Place draws tens of thousands of guests from near and far to experience a truly Canadian Christmas. With the Woodward’s Windows on display, ice-skating and curling, rideable mini train, and Santa visits, 2013 was unlike any other Christmas event Vancouver has seen.

To incorporate sponsors into the event theme, as opposed to only on printed materials, exhibits and custom visuals that highlighted the sponsor were built into the event design. For the Northwest Territories, the main sponsor of the ice rink, we created an Aurora Borealis effect above the rink  and had a scene featuring Muskox, sleds, and snow mounds.

Our scope of work included hiring and managing over 25 entertainment pieces, designing and installing décor for 100,000 sq. ft. coverage, managing 300 volunteers and designing an overall experience for a program running over 30 days.

Classics like Woodward’s Windows on display, ice-skating and curling, rideable mini train, and Santa visits were mixed with exhibits and custom visuals that highlighted sponsors. The main sponsor of the ice rink, the Northwest Territories, we created an Aurora Borealis effect above the rink  and had a scene featuring Muskox, sleds, and snow mounds.

Since this specific format of Christmas at Canada Place had not taken place within the last 6 years, “e” had to take a historical, yet slightly out of date event structure, and evolve it creating an experience worthy of representing the history of the holiday and the event.
