The event was a fully immersive celebration of Kitimat, BC, and its cultural heritage, engaging guests from arrival with ocean-inspired décor, live acoustic performances, and a custom buffet featuring ice sculptures and local fish. Guests traveled through an ocean-themed tunnel with the sounds of orcas, while the dining room showcased BC-inspired centrepieces and a five-course menu highlighting local and Indigenous ingredients. A 360-degree production design, including LED projections and a giant eagle installation on the main stage, created a multi-sensory experience that honored Indigenous land and brought the spirit of British Columbia to life.

  • The Experience

    THE DESIGN

The immersive event design drew inspiration from the scenic landscapes of Kitimat, BC, home to LNG Canada, thoughtfully blending natural beauty with cultural resonance.

Central to the experience was a custom event brand featuring licensed artwork by Paul Windsor, Between the Waves, which guided the creative direction. The design harmonized two distinct inspirations: the serene, flowing motifs of “Sea to Sky,” reflecting the balance of sea and sky, and the prismatic, industrial textures of “Ember & Iron,” echoing the interplay between the LNG Plant’s mechanical structures and the surrounding natural environment. Together, these elements created a visually striking and conceptually rich setting that celebrated British Columbia’s unique character.

Guests were fully immersed through custom soundscapes of ocean waves, breezes, and native bird calls, transporting them into the B.C. wilderness from the moment they arrived. Designed for an international audience, the experience was intentionally multisensory, allowing everyone to connect with the environment through sight, sound, and taste, even without a shared language, ensuring the essence of British Columbia could be universally felt.

    THE RECEPTION

The reception welcomed guests with a quick check-in at cocktail tables, leading into a beautifully designed lounge area featuring mixed seating in four shades of blue. Culinary experiences included a custom buffet with ice sculptures, along with a variety of food stations and bars. The venue’s large windows were adorned with fish imagery from the licenced artwork, enhancing the immersive aquatic theme. Guests were entertained by live acoustic performances from Sons of Granville, featuring drums, guitar, and violin, while a custom step-and-repeat with a white-to-blue gradient and textured design evoked the feeling of being under the ocean.

    DINNER

Guests entered the dinner through an immersive ocean-themed tunnel, complete with a soundscape of orcas and waves, and were welcomed with a drum procession around the main room performed by the Squamish Nation. The dining room featured a mix of round and harvest tables draped in ocean blues and teals, arranged to mimic waves. Centerpieces highlighted the natural beauty of British Columbia, incorporating wood, greenery, and meadow-inspired flowers, softly illuminated by candlelight. Each table setting included custom branded menus in a striking red, providing a vibrant contrast to the serene surroundings.

The dinner itself was a carefully curated five-course experience, highlighting local and Indigenous ingredients while honoring First Nations traditions and LNG Canada’s JVP host countries, including Canada, China, and Korea. Courses ranged from a mushroom soy consommé amuse-bouche to a poached summer asparagus starter, scallop ceviche, a braised bison entrée, and a match cream and strawberry yuzu dessert, celebrating both abundance and diversity. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted to align with the event’s theme and enhance the overall multisensory experience for guests.

    STAGE DESIGN

The production design transformed the venue into a fully immersive, 360-degree ocean environment using LED and projection technology. The main stage, positioned at the back of the room beneath a striking giant eagle installation, paid tribute to the Indigenous land on which LNG Canada was built and symbolized the project’s ambition to soar to new heights. Two large standard screens, each flanked by three banner screens, complemented the front of the stage, which was designed to resemble a nest for the eagle.

Additional content was displayed on two curved 100-foot screens along the sides of the room, enhancing the immersive experience. All screen content drew from the event’s design palette, blending serene blues and vibrant reds to reflect the oceanic and natural inspirations of the overall event design.

  • Whizbang Moments
