15TH GLENN GOULD PRIZE GALA

Often regarded as Canada's most prestigious cultural honour, the biennial Glenn Gould Prize celebrates visionary individuals whose unique lifetime contributions have enriched the human condition through the arts.

The 15th Glenn Gould Prize Gala brought 3,000 guests to the theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto for a once-in-a-generation celebration honouring Sir Elton John as the foundation’s newest laureate.

In close partnership with The Glenn Gould Foundation, the evening was designed to celebrate two transformative musical legacies, beginning with an energetic VIP arrival, transitioning into a dynamic cross-genre stage program that paired classical tributes with iconic pop anthems, and culminating in an electric all-star finale.

More than a traditional honours ceremony, the event sought to honour Canadian musical talent on a global stage while creating an deeply personal, unforgettable tribute for one of modern music's greatest icons.

  • The "e" Way

Our creative direction was rooted in storytelling that Sir Elton could truly feel, creating an emotional compass that guided every moment of the evening. Rather than presenting a passive tribute, we wove together the rebellious, boundary-breaking spirits of Glenn Gould and Elton John through personal artist stories, intentional musical pacing, and authentic Canadian talent performing repertoire chosen straight from the heart.

That human-centric narrative created an atmosphere so warm and moving that Sir Elton was inspired to deliver an impassioned, unscripted ten-minute address and spontaneously join the company onstage for a joyful musical finale.

  • What People Are Saying

“Thanks for inviting me to be a part of this very special memorable event.

It’s honestly quite amazing how all of you and your team in such a short time when you were finally brought on board by the Glenn Gould Foundation put together such a world class production. Congratulations!!!

Eric McCormick was the absolute perfect host and it turned out that all of the Artists worked so well for this very special show.

And what can you say about Elton!

So gracious and warm and even humble despite being truly one of the greatest talents on the planet.

The staging, the production, the lighting, the sound and the pacing of the show made this very special. As you know, I have been privileged to have worked on the Grammys with Ken Ehrlich and many other of his shows as well as attended many special events in Los Angeles and with a limited budget and not much time you managed to put on a show that can stand up to anything on the world stage.

On a personal note it was very emotional to see my dear friend Yves Aucoin and some of the members of Celine’s band who I have not seen for a few years.

I look forward to being able to work with you and contribute in any small way to any future projects and look forward to seeing you again.

I will be seeing Ken Ehrlich this week and give him a first hand report.

Thanks again from your friend and prouder than ever Canadian.”

The Production

The show balanced broadcast-level staging with inclusive, human-centred design. To accommodate Sir Elton’s extreme light sensitivity, the entire lighting architecture was custom-programmed to a delicate five-percent brightness, requiring the multi-camera broadcast team to rethink focal depths and camera balance without losing the rich visual texture of the room. Under the musical direction of Scott Price, an elite house band featuring Céline Dion’s touring rhythm section supported an extraordinary cross-generational roster of Canadian performers, navigating live classical instrumentation and high-octane rock anthems with exceptional technical precision.

The Event

The venue was shaped into an intimate, luxurious environment that connected Sir Elton directly to the performance and the audience. Positioned prominently at the head of the runway, Sir Elton and David Furnish's custom VIP lounge table appeared to float atop an architectural base of thousands of red roses, offering unobstructed sightlines while wrapping them in warmth. The sensory experience extended into every hospitality touchpoint, including sourcing and importing Sir Elton’s favourite non-alcoholic sparkling wine so they could participate in every room-wide toast, pairing striking visual elegance with thoughtful personal care.
